Pocahontas Woods is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing a thriving community of high-end furniture makers in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, and the surrounding area. They operate a training program for beginning and intermediate woodworkers and provide support for woodworking businesses, including a variety of machinery available to rent. Small class sizes and dedicated instructors provide for a more personalized educational experience.
Hand tools and traditional construction methods are an educational focus of Pocahontas Woods. Students gain hands-on experience in furniture-making and learn good business practices by assisting master woodworkers to build high-quality custom furniture.
Pocahontas Woods is located in a newly renovated and equipped 3,300 square foot woodshop on Third Avenue. Food and lodging are nearby, and the Greenbrier River Trail runs just behind the woodshop on its way through Marlinton.
